Having trouble accessing Microsoft 365 online today? You’re not alone. The site is down for thousands of users, according to outage tracker DownDetector. As of 9am ET, more than 23,000 people have reported issues attempting to access the site.

A post on X from the Microsoft 365 Status account says: “We’re investigating an issue where users may be unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services. Please look for MO888473 in the admin center for more details and further updates.”

Ironically, Microsoft’s own service health page for its online products and services shows that everything is fine. However, a different Microsoft service status page acknowledges that “users may be unable to access one or more Microsoft 365 services.”

The company said it’s reviewing network telemetry and looking at any recent changes to its networking infrastructure. Microsoft added that it’s working with a third-party Internet Service Provider to understand the underlying cause.

Though no specific cause has yet been revealed, DownDetector says the problem could be related to issues at Microsoft Azure, the company’s cloud-based environment for enterprises and other organizations. The site also reports possible issues with Microsoft Services when connecting through AT&T Fiber in the US East region.

Many of the people responding to Microsoft’s post on X agreed that it seems to be an issue with AT&T. Some who switched from AT&T to a backup system were then able to access the affected Microsoft services.

Trying to sign into Microsoft 365 on my end results in an error communicating with the server or a lost connection. However, the glitch seems to be affecting more than just Microsoft 365.

I’m unable to sign into certain other Microsoft websites, especially ones that support two-factor authentication with the Microsoft Authenticator app. However, some sites, such as Outlook.com, remain accessible to me. Otherwise, almost 4,000 users have reported problems using Microsoft Teams, according to Reuters.
